Centralizing

Hello world!what’s going on?

Here everything is changing and I have some news for you:

First of all, I have decided to centralize my blog on http://crearescreer.blogspot.com that was the first I started and originally I wrote in spanish (my mother tongue). But after analyzing and taking in count all the time I pass editing pictures and writing in different platforms (shops included) I thought making one post in spanish, english and french in only one blog would be more productive.

So, having said that I invite you to follow all the news and abouts over there. Last week I participated on Etsy Craft Night in Paris and there are lots of things to share (you can also have an update and follow me on Facebook http://facebook.com/crearescreer and I also suggesting you lots of things and people to follow on Twitter http://twitter.com/anasousa_etsy

On my blogger blog you have also the option to suscribe for posts and receive them directly on you e-mail….

So, thanks for updating the info and see you around!

Tango and more vestiges…

This week I’m finished a new scarflette of my collection that was very easy to name… I called it Tango … its net is like the ones you can see in tango women dancer’s tights and the colors are very typical and passionate ones.

Then I sold all my unisex hand-woven scarves (oh yeah!) and I had to make one very quickly (I’ll tell you more in the next post ;))), so I did a grey one but this time I used a thread in blue cobalt (such a pretty one) I found in Barbes neighbourhood.

vestiges

I called this model “vestiges” that means “relics” and I think this name is very appropriate because at every time I finished one is like it has lived for a long time yet and it is there, simple but stoic … the same sensation you can have when you used shoes for a long time… they are not perfect but you love them more than the first day… well these scarves are brand new (not the same case) but the material and its character make me think to something old and valuable. Hope you like them and have a great week-end!

Mapuche jewelry collection 09/10

Hi, hope you all had got a great weekend!

Today I’m going to show you my new collection of Mapuche bijoux… if you are one of my fans on facebook for sure you have seen it before.

This collection is made with more traditional colors, even if is not exactly how they use to make their artesanias… due to the color base was white or cream. But I love this combination and I feel it really appropriate for fall season.

This time threads are all cotton, (it was a client’s suggestion and I feel it right) and I’ve made also earrings… they are so unique that I’m sure you are going to love them.

For now not all the collection is published on my shops, but little by little I’m updating and you’ll see it this week available for sale…

Enjoy and have a good week!

Rustic body, soft in essence

Today I’ll show you two finished products…

One of them is a revisited poncho of this one but in pastels colors and not fringes.  You’ll tell me which version you prefer. Both of them are made with the same motif and concept rustic wool as the main ones and softer delicate ones in the interior…

  Poncho granny style

And followinf with the rustic concept and suave feeling I’m going to show you this scarf I made for a friend that has helped us a lot since we are in France, so Benoît is the new owner of this echarpe that I see more and more as a disctintive piece in my shops and a unisex option with a lot of personality.

Indigenous weaving

I will show you how the faja I was weavig in the Pampa Tutorial has finished… unfortunately sometimes threads are rebel  and as always I think the loom is who guide (not me) so… it’s a nice piece of fabric, but still don’t know if I’m going to use it, so if you have ideas they are very welcome … As an advice when using cotton checked that he was not easily form the famous “little balls” because it is impossible to go up and down …

So this was the result

Telar pampa

And now I’m weaving this new series for a new Mapuche collection…

Pochette in red

And finally I finished the third pochette… as I told here it was a red buckle left…

As we are almost entering in Fall season I made it with warmer fibers as wool and a piece of brown leather which gives it a lot of character…

Now that I can look at the trhee of them I love the fact that they have the same shape but completely different styles… and as all hanmade things a unique not perfect one……..

Pampa weaving tutorial Part II

To start weaving we are going to suppose this is our scheme:

esquema

Where each square is formed by four pairs of threads and we can chose how many times to repeat it in order to the design we want (more or less elongated)

The pairs have to be always the same in quantity and take care in the order you put them up and down.

Once we have chosen them we are going to put the stick as a guide and then we are going to make the cross and put the two other sticks.

Now we start to weave!

First we are going to approximate the guide to the first stick and you are going to see there are threads that are over it… here you have to pass another piece (I have another kind of stick but thin) to open the shed, here you pass the threads to weave (I pass them double to have more structure)

Do the same in the back part and be careful because here you can’t see the threads so it is better to help yourself with your hands to feel if there are some threads out of place.

Now we take off the first stick (not the guide one) and do the same process with the other one. Once you have finish you have completed the row.

pampa

You are going to see that at one point you are going to need to tie off the threads and retie them between them (not to the loom) if not the tension is going to be at the maximum and is going to be impossible to weave.

It is very important to control the threads tension because sometimes depending on the material they lost tension and need to be cut and tie to continue

This is it! If you need something else… just ask!
